Professor Charles Brook
Emeritus Professor of Paediatric Endocrinology and former Trustee

Professor Brook qualified through Cambridge and St. Thomas’s Hospital in 1964.  After junior doctor appointments at St. Thomas’s, Great Ormond Street and Kinderspital Zurich, he was appointed Consultant Paediatrician to The Middlesex and Central Middlesex Hospitals in 1974, specialising in endocrinology. He became a full-time academic there in 1983 and a Professor at University College London in 1989. After visiting the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne for six months in 1992, he set up the Adolescent Medicine service for Great Ormond Street at The Middlesex which moved into the new UCL Hospital in 2000. In 1994 he established the London Centre for Paediatric Endocrinology jointly between UCL and Great Ormond Street Hospitals to provide a seamless cradle to grave service for patients with endocrine problems. He has written and published extensively on the subject.

In 2000 Professor Brook moved to Somerset, became a Justice of the Peace, Chair of Pitcombe Parish Council, Churchwarden at St. Leonard’s Pitcombe and successively a Vice-President and Trustee of St. Margaret’s Somerset Hospice.
