Julia Poulton
St. Margaret's Head of Fundraising

Julia has been with St. Margaret’s Hospice since November 2014 and has lived and worked in the West Country since an early age.  Julia began her career in the voluntary sector back in 1992 working for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Her first job was admin support for the South West region. She then moved into income generation and had roles covering the West of England, Wales, and finally Head of Fundraising South including central London. Working across all of these geographical areas has given her a greater understanding of how laws and different cultures can affect income generation and how to meet the needs of supporters.

During her career she has developed fundraising knowledge across corporate, events, volunteering, legacy, individual giving, major donor and community fundraising (which she specialises in) as well compliance and regulation. She has also developed her management and people skills through merging teams and remote management.

Being part of national working groups developing products and strategies has given Julia an insight into how and why supporters choose to donate and volunteer.

Julia has two children who are both in further education.
